Purpose of funding

Funding is ring-fenced for improving  provision of PE and sport, but schools have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Possible uses for the funding include:

• Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work alongside primary teachers when teaching PE
• Delivery of sports clubs
• Paying for professional development opportunities in PE/sport
• Providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE/sport
• Running sports competitions, or increasing participation in school games
• Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE/sport

We are keen to ensure that the funding has a long-term impact on quality of PE and Sport in our school. We will ensure this by spending the funding on the development of policies and procedures that benefit all children and help inspire our children to enjoy sporting activities. We also spend the funding on developing staff expertise and confidence in delivering high quality PE which in order to have longer term impact on PE at Walton Peak Flying High Academy.

We have ensured these improvements are sustainable by focusing on teacher expertise and CPD.  This has had a positive impact on the teaching of PE in school. Our 2024-25 Sports Premium allocation is £16,910.00 PE and sport premium funding GOV.UK
