Message from the Governing Body.

Walton Peak Flying High Primary and Nursery Academy opened its doors for the first time on the 02/09/21. 

The governing board was established in January 2021 and has grown over time, taking responsibility for the school.  The governors fully understand and support Walton Peak in the urgency with which improvements are being made.  Support for school improvement is given by the FHP Education Team.

The governing board consists of several experienced governors: Chair Ann Cruickshank, Vice Chair Tina Shewring, staff governor Angela Dolphin and parent governor Daniel Boothby.

Ann Cruickshank:

I worked in schools in Norfolk, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Derby City for over 40 years as a teacher, deputy head, head teacher and Local Leader of Education.  Since retiring a few years ago, I have worked as an independent educational consultant, specialising in safeguarding, as wellbeing the chair of governors for two schools in Derby City.  I look forward to working with Poolsbrook and Walton Peak to support them on their journey of improvement.

Angela Dolphin

I have worked for the school for 10 years, and I am proud to be part of the exciting journey with Flying High Academy. I am now Pastoral Support and Designated Safeguarding Lead, a role which allows me to work supportively and collaboratively with children, their families and my colleagues. I am also an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant working with children to help them understand, express, communicate and manage their emotions effectively and appropriately.

I am passionate about improving the outcomes for all children and families.
